That's not a problem, it's a higher function of the brain. Anything else would bring about a 'deer in headlights' response that we would consider to be less intelligent. If humans couldn't take a course of actions without specifically overcoming all problems regarding it, we'd never do anything at all.
We have a goal. We will accept flaws in a plan as long as they don't outweigh our expectation of reaching the goal. The problem with the study is that they think we blindly overlook those flaws and detect the ones in our opponent. That isn't the case. In reality, we don't like the opponent's GOAL, and use the flaws as reasons not to pursue it.
Notice they don't reallys say what the problems were? Notice they call Tom Hanks 'neutral'. I'm willing to bet that the study material looked like one of the Col's blogs...

Notice? Yep. Now can we enumerate?

I am so totally with Baker on this one. They gave very little info on how they chose test subjects, how big of a test group they used and what the questions were like. It really doesn't sound that scientific to me. Sounds more like a 'test' created to generate results to back up some crack pots theory.
The main difference between the political affiliations is priorities. What they are calling "ignoring facts" could actually being explained by prioritization. Sure, there is the fringe on either side that runs purely on emotion but I think it is misleading to make a blanket statement like the one made in this "study".
BTW: I love Tom Hanks as an actor but he is by no means 'neutral' when it comes to politics.

There's a difference between "ignore" and "disagree with", UBob.

Yeah, g'head, ignore the study.
I'm just questioning it. That is what thinking people do
Some of us have learned to not just believe everything we read or see on TV.

Not taken to seriously mostly just think it was funny. Of coarse if the study only involved Democrats that would be good science.
Here’s a read that might explain some of the study results.

Of course, that makes sense... Not.
